Express Entry
Express entry is a procedure designed to attract high-skilled foreign workers and former international students who want to live in Canada permanently, and whose skills are needed by employers across Canada to help build businesses and grow the economy. Express Entry used a points-based system, whereby candidates are selected based on the total points scored from criteria such as skills, education, ability in English or French language, work experience and other factors. Eligible candidates can apply through one of the following programs under the Express Entry system:
Federal Skilled Workers Program
This is for immigrants with skills in managerial, professional and high-skilled occupations who want to live in Canada and use their skills to help strengthen and grow Canada’s economy.
Federal Skilled Trades Program
This is for skilled trades people with who want to become Canadian permanent residents based on their practical training and work experience in select skilled trades or occupations.
Canadian Experience Class Program
This is for skilled temporary foreign workers, including international student graduates with at least one year of full-time Canadian work experience gained after graduation.
Provincial Nominee Programs
Provinces and territories in Canada can also recruit candidates from the Express Entry pool through the Provincial Nominee Program to meet their local economy and labour market needs.

Provincial Nominee Program

Immigrating to Canada permanently is an exciting opportunity. While there are several different
programs through which to immigrate to Canada, the right immigration program for you will
depend on your goals, abilities and your particular circumstances. By knowing your needs and
particular situation, we will be able to help you decide the immigration program that will work
best for you and your family.
Any one of Canada’s 10 provinces and 3 territories can nominate you to settle and work in that
province under the Provincial Nominee Programs. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) are
designed to allow Canadian provinces and territories nominate individuals who have the skills,
education and work experience to contribute to the economy of that province or territory, and
who are interested in settling in that particular province or territory.
Each PNP is tailored to the province or territory's specific needs to select nominees who will be able to settle into life in the province and contribute to the growth of the economy of the province. PNP selection criteria target certain groups, including students, business people, skilled workers and semi-skilled workers.
